Chiropractic is about improving the communication between your nervous system and your body. There are many ways to do this. Chiropractic adjustments are the first line of defense. When joints in your spine are not moving properly it can affect the way information comes into your central nervous system (CNS) and the outflow from your CNS to your body. Dr. Baer doesnít realign your spine, he finds areas that arenít moving properly and adjusts them so they move better and thus improves the communication between your nervous system and your body.
That being said, we do things a little differently. Chiropractic is just one of the many tools that can help rid you of pain, and more importantly, achieve whatever goal you might have. Active Release Techniques (ART), functional rehabilitation, functional taping and cold laser are other tools that can be used. The goals are all determined by you. Most of the time people want to live life free of pain. Thatís an awesome goal. Other people want to have optimum health. Thatís an even more awesome goal.
Every patient is different and the first thing we do is sit down and have a talk about the history of your injury and what your goals are. This is followed by a functional exam, using Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) to determine your special needs. Dr. Baer will look at your posture, gait and overall movement, and then test all the major muscles in your body to determine which muscles and joints in your body arenít working properly. Every patient is a unique puzzle and needs customized treatments. Most need some kind of adjustment and soft tissue work (ART), and then exercises are added to maintain treatment results.
